What
is HAVA?
HAVA,
the Harbor Association of Volunteers for
Animals, is an all-volunteer group serving
the animals of the Twin Harbors region
of Washington state. The area we cover
stretches roughly from Westport in the
north to Bay Center in the south. It encompasses
portions of Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.
|
HAVA's
Philosophy:
A shelter is a safe haven -- not a
last stop before death
HAVA
was founded in Westport, Washington,
by Shirley Brown, and operated for
many years with a dedicated crew of
volunteers. Following Shirley's retirement,
HAVA went into a brief period of diminished
activity. With the help of loving hearts
old and new, the group has now been
reformed and is based in Raymond, Washington.

How
can you help HAVA help the animals?
Volunteer! Donate money! Donate
animal-care supplies. Anything to help the
lost, abused, or unwanted animals of the
Harbors. |

What does HAVA do?
HAVA's long-term mission includes:
- Building a no-kill animal shelter in Raymond,
Washington
- Establishing a low-cost spay-neuter program
- Maintaining a trap-neuter-release program for
feral cats
- Establishing an emergency medical
fund for stray animals in need of health care
In the meantime, as we raise funds to accomplish these
aims, we place animals in loving homes. To provide for those animals
before adoption, we are building a volunteer foster-care network for
dogs, cats, and other small animals. We also run a lost & found
registry, and our long-time volunteers feed and care for several colonies
of feral cats, including the well-known "Jetty
Cats" of the beach community of Westport. |
